Dave Bere
Dave has been a long time member involved in numerous ministries over the years. He served as a Trustee in the early 90’s through the end of 2005. Dave is a retired business leader in the food and retail industries, currently serving as chairperson of a national company. He also serves on the board of Fuller Theological Seminary and Christianity Today. He and his wife Karen have been married for 39 years and love traveling to see their three married children and 10 grandchildren.
Deborah Borsum
Deborah has faithfully served in a variety of ministries, including 13 years on the Board of Trustees as a member of the Board of Affairs and Trustee Secretary. She currently serves as a small group leader, member of the LIFT Initiative Steering Team and a member and trainer in our Stephen Ministry. As retired owner and CEO of a special event company, Deborah brought her design and production expertise to countless celebrations and events at Christ Church throughout the years. She and her husband Jim have been mentors, friends and wise counsel to many.
Stephanie Bruzan
Stephanie has grown up at Christ Church and participates in MOPS, as well as many other ministries. She joined the Board of Trustees in 2024. Professionally Stephanie is a Chartered Financial Analyst® with more than a decade of experience in the sales and marketing of investment strategies. She currently leads the firm’s new business development and, in the past, has worked as a litigation consultant. Stephanie and her husband, John, have two young children.
Terrance currently serves as Director of Graduate Admissions at Wheaton College. While he, his wife Keisha and two daughters are deeply involved in Christ Church, they also co-pastor The Light Church in Oak Park. Terrance has had the privilege of serving in multiple roles from Sunday School teacher, Men’s Ministry leader, Sunday School superintendent, marriage counselor and Associate Pastor. He is currently pursuing a second master’s degree in divinity at Fuller Theological Seminary.
Tommy Ferguson
For more than 10 years Tommy has worked in the insurance industry in data science and analytics. He and his wife Alli have been married for 14 years and have three children. During their 12 years at Christ Church, he has served in several areas including our Middle and High School Ministry and Celebrate Recovery. Currently he is involved in the Young Families community, Men’s Ministry, serves on the Board of Elders and was just named to Elder Council.
Sara Harris (Co-Chair)
Sara has served in more than a dozen ministries in her time at Christ Church, including Financial Peace University, Women’s Ministry, First Impressions, LIFT Leadership Revolution and Elder Council. She has also served with DuPage Pads, Beds Plus and Aging Care Connections. She joined the Trustee Board in 2022. Sara has served as an Executive Director on a church staff and in the food industry as VP in Human Resources.
Sara enjoys life with her four adult children/stepchildren and two grandchildren.
Claire Maly
Claire will be joining Elder Council in 2024. She currently serves on the Contemporary Worship team and as a Stephen Minister, as well as being active in Women of Hope. In previous years, Claire had a rewarding career in Human Resources and is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Clinical Psychology. She and her husband, Jon, have been married for 18 years and have three children.
Tim MacKenzie
Tim is the Managing Director of a private equity firm in Chicago. He serves as the President of Chicago Fellowship and the Hinsdale Young Life Foundation. Tim has been involved in small groups at Christ Church and Bible Study Fellowship. He joined the Trustee Board in 2017 and currently serves as the Vice Chair and Chief Governance Officer. He and his wife Mary have been married 40 years and have three adult children and two grandchildren.
Courtney Shuster
Courtney has spent over 20 years working in digital product innovation. She currently leads a team in a Fortune 100 biopharma company dedicated to designing and delivering innovations to help shape the future of healthcare. Courtney was baptized and raised at Christ Church and has served in a variety of ministries over the years, including as an Elder and on Elder Council. She also serves on the board of Young Athletes with Hope and is involved with Clarendon Hills Infant Welfare. Courtney and her husband Mark have two children.
Luke Tenery (Co-Chair)
Luke and his wife Jill have been a part of Christ Church for 14 of the 15 years they’ve been married. They and three daughters are a wonderful part of our church community. Luke has served in the Journey With Us, COW–Middle School and Men’s Ministry. He is also a member of our Board of Elders. Vocationally, Luke is a partner at a global risk advisory firm where he leads their cybersecurity practice area, assisting businesses and organizations in protecting and defending their business from cyber threats.
